Although the research center is part of a private company, it is open to researchers by appointment and is staffed from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays. To schedule an appointment, please call 1-800-443-1886 x387.

Reference Collections
Microfilm
The microfilm collection consists of a complete back run of The Sporting News from 1886, the sports pages of selected New York newspapers from 1917-1953, The NCAA News, and the official National and American League day-by-day statistics.
Clippings
The clipping files, which contain articles from The Sporting News and many other newspapers and magazines from around the country, are arranged by sport and then alphabetically by individual and subject and were maintained from circa 1920-1988.
Media Guides
We have team media guides for all the teams in the four sports we cover. For hockey, back to 1990. NBA and NCAA Division I college football and basketball back to 1986. NFL back to the mid-70s and MLB back to 1970.
Books
The sports literature collection contains titles from other publishers around the world on many different sports including those we don’t currently cover in the weekly magazine, such as golf, tennis and boxing. We also have complete sets of the NL Green Book, the AL Red Book and the Baseball Blue Book.
Guides and Registers
The guides and registers section includes not only Sporting News publications dating back to the early 1940s, but also Spalding and Reach guides and record books for baseball going back to before the turn of the century and guides published by the leagues themselves in football, basketball and hockey.
Periodicals
We also maintain a collection of general and sports periodicals, including Sports Illustrated, The NCAA News, Baseball America and Baseball Weekly.
