SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The San Jose Earthquakes acquired forward Rodrigo Faria from the Chicago Fire on Wednesday for a conditional draft pick in 2004.

Faria was the MLS Rookie of the Year in 2001, scoring eight goals for the MetroStars. The Brazilian had 12 goals and 29 points for the MetroStars last season.

The Fire received Faria last winter as compensation for Bob Bradley, who left Chicago to coach the MetroStars. Faria has appeared in just five matches for Chicago, going scoreless.
