LONDON -- Chelsea failed to win for the first time this season, with Andy Cole of Blackburn scoring twice in a 2-2 tie Saturday in the Premier League.
Adrian Mutu and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink had goals for Chelsea, which won its first two games before the tie at home. Hasselbaink closed the scoring with a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.
Hernan Crespo, the newly signed Argentine star, entered as a second-half substitute for Chelsea.
Michael Owen scored twice to help Liverpool defeat crosstown rival Everton 3-0. It was the Reds' first victory in four games this season to go with two ties.
Newcastle fell 1-0 to Birmingham, with David Dunn scoring in the 61st minute.
In other Premier League games, it was: Aston Villa 3, Leicester 1; Bolton 0, Charlton 0; Leeds 3, Middlesbrough 2; Fulham 3, Tottenham 0; and Wolverhampton 0, Portsmouth 0.
Arsenal and Manchester United lead the standings with 3-0 records and nine points. Both play Sunday -- Arsenal at Manchester City and Man United at Southampton.
