COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Brian West scored in the 37th minute to help the Columbus Crew get their first win at home in two months, beating the Kansas City Wizards 1-0 Sunday night.

Goalie Jon Busch made six saves for his fourth shutout of the year, including a dive to swat a shot by Josh Wolff wide left of the goal in the 75th minute.

The second win in a row for the Crew (7-9-6) gave them 27 points to tie them with D.C. United for third place in the Eastern Conference, tightening the playoff race with eight games left. Only five points separate the second- through fifth-place teams in the East.

The Wizards (7-7-8), at 29 points, haven't won in six games and are tied for third in the Western Conference with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The Crew had three shots on goal.
